As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the operational infrastructure of local cooperatives, a formal handover of plumbing materials is carried out to Abasuki Tannery Cooperative at Mthalala village, ward 4, Port St. Johns with the support from O.R. Tambo District Municipality, led by MMC. Mvuyisi Mbhede.
This intervention is designed to enhance overall efficiency of the cooperative’s operations, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, promoting environmental sustainable practices. The cooperative is positioned to manage water resources effectively, maintaining hygienic working conditions and boosting productivity as it also reflects the municipality’s continued support in empowering local communities with tools and infrastructure necessary for sustainable growth, job creation and long term success within the district.
Handing over the material MMC for Rural Economic Development and Planning, Cllr Mvuyisi Mbhede applauded the cooperatives for contribution they do and urged the communities to start their businesses to create employment.
