The 65th anniversary of the Ingquza Hill Massacre, which occurred on 6 June 1960 was observed today at Ingquza Hill Museum, Flagstaff. On that day, 23 people were detained and given jail sentences and 11 were shot dead on the spot. In 1964, 30 more people were put to death in Pretoria, while others left Mpondoland to seek safety elsewhere.
