FROM QUNU TO KHAMBI — MADIBA’S LEGACY LIVES THROUGH US

This July, the people of O.R. Tambo District stand in remembrance and celebration of a giant among us — uTata Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela — who would have turned 107 on the 18th of July.
His story is not just written in books or echoed in speeches. It is rooted in our soil — in our villages, in our homes, in our struggles. And in our hands lies the power to carry that legacy forward.
We do not honour Madiba with words alone. We do it with acts of dignity, acts of compassion, acts of justice.

🔥 MANDELA MONTH: BE INVOLVED, BE THE DIFFERENCE
This Mandela Month, we’re not just remembering, we’re moving. We’re showing up. We’re making a difference.
🗓️ On 22 July, we gather at Komkhulu, Khambi Village at 10AM — to stand with flood-hit families, to wrap them in warmth and restore hope, blanket by blanket, parcel by parcel, home by home.
🤝 With the South African National Defence Force, we’ll reach even further, into the heart of Ingquza Hill, bringing comfort to communities facing hardship.
🎟️ The Nelson Mandela Museum’s Gala Dinner will bring together children, athletes and leaders , all walking Madiba’s path of justice and care.
🏃‍♂️ The “Tata Mandela Journey” Marathon, from Qunu and Qokolweni to the Bhunga Building, is more than a race. It’s a living tribute to the footsteps we still follow.
🧤And across our District, you’ll see Mandela’s values bloom — in food gardens, school drives, and small moments of upliftment. These aren’t events. These are echoes of Madiba — living in us.

🕯️ WE WALK IN HIS NAME — TOGETHER
Let us honour him, not with silence, but with service.
Not just with memory, but with action.
Not just in celebration, but in commitment to his dream : a world without hunger, injustice, or fear.
Happy Birthday, Tata.
Your journey lights our way.
Your legacy lives through us. ✊🏿
