Today ORTDM together with Port St Johns Local Municipality held the Annual Cleanup Campaign at the town’s beaches and streets. This campaign included the sweeping and clearing of illegal dump sites. The second phase of the programme commenced with various departments creating awareness about the dangers of mismanagement of waste.
During the session the Community Services MMC, Cllr. Nontyatyambo Gcingca handed over cleaning equipment which included 5 grass cutters, 16 × 5liter 2 stroke oil, 300 pairs of gloves, 5 refuse collection canvases, 100 bails of black refuse bags and 8× 5kg nylon strings.
This comes after Port St Johns Local Municipality came first in the district in the Greenest Municipality Competition and second in the province.
