Today is the last day of a two-day Summit for Traditional Leaders currently held at Dans Country Lodge, to ensure that the role played by the Traditional Leaders is recognised and their value is kept.
During his address at the summit Eastern Cape Premier, Hon. Oscar Mabuyane says this summit comes at the time when the country is celebrating the 30 years of freedom. He added that this summit reminds government of the role played by traditional leaders for the attainment of democracy.
The Premier says, in this district alone there’s a lot of developmental programs happening in the space of Traditional Leadership for rural development. He mentioned the work done by SANRAL on major road 🛣️ construction projects 🚧 that are implemented including two bridges 🌉 Msikaba & Mthentu in Lusikisiki.
Despite these great strides, he highlighted that there are still challenges like under development in some parts of the province, Gender-Based Violence and Illegal initiation schools that lead to deaths.He said only through partnerships with Traditional Leadership can the district and the province overcome these challenges
