TAKING SERVICES CLOSER TO THE PEOPLE

Today, the O.R. Tambo District Municipality, led by the Chief Whip, Cllr Nomvuzo Mlombile-Cingo, brought government services closer to the people of Mgojweni Komkhulu in Ngqeleni, Ward 32, through a community outreach programme.
The programme aims to strengthen communication between public representatives and communities, create a platform for residents to raise their concerns and grievances, and ensure that essential services are brought closer to those who need them most.
A number of government departments and private-sector stakeholders came together to make essential services and information more accessible to the community.

The Department of Health was on the ground providing essential health services, including blood sugar testing, family planning services, HIV and AIDS testing, cervical cancer screening and other health screenings.
The Department of Social Development unpacked the various services and forms of support available to community members.
Other stakeholders, including the Department of Home Affairs and SASSA, were also present, providing information and assisting residents to access their respective services.
Through programmes such as these, government continues to strengthen its connection with communities, listen to the people and ensure that services reach residents where they are.
