The efforts to provide social relief to victims of the 10 June 2025 heavy rainfall disaster continues. A total of 125 households from Wards 21, 22, 23, 25, 26, 27, 29, 35, and 36 in Mqanduli Town, within the King Sabata Dalindyebo Local Municipality, received support.
The Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited, through their emplenting agency Teba Foundation, have donated to affected victims social relief essentials such as beds, mattresses, bedding, and food parcels.
The Office of the Premier, together with the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, O.R. Tambo District Municipality, King Sabata Dalindyebo Local Municipality, and Harmony Gold Mining Company handed over social relief interventions to affected families.
 
These interventions form part of ongoing efforts to assist affected households and communities as they recover from the impact of the severe weather conditions that affected the O.R. Tambo District Municipality last year.
In his opening remarks, King Sabata Dalindyebo Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr. Nyaniso Nelani, said the collaborative response reflects a shared commitment by government and private-sector partners to support vulnerable communities and help restore dignity and stability to those impacted by the disaster.
He further expressed appreciation to all stakeholders involved in the relief initiative, emphasizing the importance of partnerships in ensuring that affected families receive the assistance they need as they rebuild their lives and livelihoods.
